“Our recent stay was unfortunately a major disappointment.”

We were expecting a clean, welcoming environment but were met with quite the opposite. The cleaning was extremely poor—cobwebs and dust covered many surfaces, and we even found a toenail with hair on the living room rug, bits on the sofa, and stained, unclean bedding. Towels smelled musty, floors were clearly not mopped, mirrors had splash marks, and soap containers at sinks were completely empty. Despite check-in being delayed until 5 pm, the property was far from ready, and the welcome ...

We were expecting a clean, welcoming environment but were met with quite the opposite. The cleaning was extremely poor—cobwebs and dust covered many surfaces, and we even found a toenail with hair on the living room rug, bits on the sofa, and stained, unclean bedding. Towels smelled musty, floors were clearly not mopped, mirrors had splash marks, and soap containers at sinks were completely empty. Despite check-in being delayed until 5 pm, the property was far from ready, and the welcome hamper, which arrived late, didn’t include everything on the list sent to us via email. We returned a few items to avoid waste, but a few listed items were missing from the delayed welcome hamper which was very disappointing.

“We really enjoyed our stay at Shutts House apartment.”

We had a lovely warm welcome from Nigel (and Ruby) and enjoyed a cup of tea sitting in the garden on our arrival. The apartment was clean, warm, comfortable, quiet and very well equipped. It was well positioned for visiting Salisbury, Winchester, Stonehenge, Devizes and many other places. We hope to return to Shutts House to continue our exploration of the area - we would not think of staying anywhere else!

“The house has a nice view and is located in a quiet area.”

It has the potential of being a great house. BUT it's not well kept: mold everywhere (even on the curtains), dust webs, dirty carpet. We have disinfected the kitchen and the tools before using it (dirty pans, dirty oven, dirty microwave). It needs some serious cleaning and updating urgently. The sheets in our bedroom had already been used (hairs, used handkerchief?), which we find unacceptable in a house of this price range.

“Loved this holiday apartment- hope to come back some time.”

Lovely and relaxing garden setting. Good location for visiting Salisbury and many places in the wider hinterland. Close to the New Forest. Well appointed and very comfortable. Excellent welcome pack- best we have had in any property stay. The owner is a very helpful host. We always enjoyed having a chat with him. We were sorry to leave after 2 weeks!

“We are just back home from our stay at Shuts House.”

What a wonderfully clean property. It is a beautiful gem in the Wiltshire countryside. Nigel thank you for such a wonderful welcome pack. I even had to go to the local store to order Mr Bumble museli to take home! The local pub the Fox and Goose were very welcoming to us and our Boxer Beau. We also eat in the kitchen was very well equipped. Thank you Nigel.

“Shutts House ground floor apartment is ideal for everyone, but particularly for people with limited ability.”

We didn't use the garden as it was so cold, but we could imagine how nice an alfresco meal would be in the summer. With the owner living above this didn't cause any disturbances. Coombe Bissett is an ideal location for some great days out, for example, Salisbury, Winchester, Shaftesbury and the Military Badges on the hills around Fovant. The local pubs were very friendly and served good food. Our favourite was the Yew Tree at Odstock. Walks in the countryside were not undertaken due to the torrential rain the previous week causing the entrance to the village being flood. However, the Nature reserve was a lovely walk just above the house and will be wonderful in the spring and summer.

“We stayed at the Shutts house for 21 days and we were very happy to discover that the property is exactly as it's listed with even more information provided by the owner once you arrive.”

We were with a dog so the garden was such a huge plus (we just wish the garden was fully surrounded by fence where the parking is). The location of the house was just foot steps away from the beautiful fields of Coombe Bissett which was amazing for walks! The welcome basket was SO spoiling with lots of yummy local goods- Thank you! Nigel was extremely helpful, friendly and hands on anything we asked for (even finding out about local bus routes as we're not from the area). To our surprise on arrival we had a Christmas Tree decorated in the living room and the apartment was festively decorated which was a fun bonus! Over all we're very happy we got a long vacation out in the country in a place we loved to come to back to every day :)

“A very comfortable place to stay within easy walking distance of the local pub, even on a dark November night.”

We were welcomed by an amazing welcome pack, the most generous any of us had ever seen in many years of renting accommodation for holidays through Sykes. The local pub is excellent, very friendly with a good selection of beers and food. The owner was very helpful sending us comprehensive information about the property, access and welcome pack & keen to help us and make us feel at home. And some final essential comments: the showers were excellent with plenty of hot water, the beds were comfortable and the seating area excellent. A good place to stay with beautiful countryside on Cranborne Chase for walking and easy access to Salisbury (park and ride nearby) and Stonehenge. Altogether an excellent place to stay.

“I couldn't be happier with this lovely holiday apartment with a most gracious and kind owner on hand!”

It is located in a lovely village with a most marvellous shop/post office for all your needs. It is close to Salisbury which is a very nice city and the famous Salisbury Cathedral where one can view an original Magna Carta penned in 1215. The English, Wiltshire countryside is beautiful. I very much enjoyed the facilities offered but couldn't make good use of the outdoor terrace with lovely underlit table as the weather was mostly dull and inclement but not an impossible situation. Altogether I can highly recommend this holiday rental.

“The weather let us down but the cottage didn't.”

The cottage was bright, clean, modern and very stylish. The welcome pack was abundant. Thank you. The showers were both hot and powerful. Lots of kitchen utensils and equipment. The beds were comfortable and there was also a choice of pillow softness or firmness. We couldn't use the garden furniture (due to the constant rain) but it was clean and looked nice. Our children still liked to run around the garden, when the sun decided to behave. TVs in each room was a bonus, as well as the tumble dryer. NB. If you have a dumb moment like we did, to get hot water running from the tap in the bath, push the tap all the way down!!! A nice stay in a stylish and modern house.

“The apartment was in a grear location, very peaceful.”

It was lovely sitting out in the garden. The aparment is very well equipped. If you have limited mobility, of it should be noted the aparrment is on one level, but some people may find the beds and lounge furniture a little on the low side. All in all, it was an idyllic stay. Thankyou.

“We came as a family of six, plus 2 year old toddler, we all agreed we would love to return to this fantastic property.”

Great to meet owner Nigel who provided lovely local produced foody items, and everything needed to make guests welcome. Super size beds, so comfy. Beautiful, spotlessly clean, stylish house. Lovely well kept garden, with lots of outdoor furniture and space for grandson Oliver to enjoy the fantastic weather we had. Thank you also to Nigel, for providing an inflatable bed for toddler Oliver. Village post office just a short walk away, which provides essentials, very friendly staff too….Location great for touring surrounding areas, we visited Salisbury, Stonehenge & Corfe Castle and a little local farm with animals for children to pet. Also great walks close to the house and well equipped children’s play park. Thank you again Nigel, for making fabulous memories of our family holiday to Wiltshire. “Enjoyed a lovely stay in this comfortable and beautifully appointed apartment.”

It was very private with a lovely garden (must be great to sit and eat outside in the summer). I loved that it was all on one level, so perfect for our family (ages 15 - 87). Nigel’s welcome pack was generous and much appreciated. Once we’d followed the instructions for the heating we were able to get the 2nd and 3rd bedrooms/en-suites warm, like the rest of the apartment. Coombe Bissett is a super village (fabulous shop and handy pub), with Salisbury on the doorstep. We also visited Stonehenge and had a day out to the New Forest, both easy distance. Useful information at the apartment helped us decide where to go. Well recommended.

“This property is in an excellent location - we were able to visit Lulworth Cove, Bournemouth, the New Forest and look around the local area of Salisbury and Coombe Bissett too.”

The property is lovely - very modern and the fact each bedroom has its own bathroom is a bonus. The owners very kindly left some goodies on our arrival and were also very helpful with a couple of things that needed sorting out. Whilst we were there we were thinking it would be great if the property had a hot tub installed on the patio area - this would have been great to use of an evening.

“The apartment was clean, warm and comfortable and very well equipped.”

The owner was extremely helpful when we had a partial power cut (caused we think by rain water getting in during a very heavy storm). We enjoyed the log-burner at night and we were very pleased to receive the welcome pack. It took us a while to work out how to use the oven (a user guide would have been helpful) but once we got the hang of it we had no problems. Local pub food was also excellent (we tried a few).

“Lovely accommodation with a very caring owner who provided a perfect balance of privacy but checked in that everything was satisfactory.”

In these COVID times, the apartment was cleaned to a standard that made us feel safe. A very nice welcome pack was provided and the owner made contact with us before the holiday with information about the accommodation and things to do in the surrounding area. We had a very pleasant weekend break in what was probably one of the nicest places we have stayed in. The only very minor downside was the garden which was not enclosed and with a young dog this meant that she had to stay on a lead although this certainly did not detract from our stay.

“Just spent a lovely week at Shutts Garden Apartment.”

It is definitely somewhere we will revisit. The accommodation is situated in a quiet position in a picturesque village only 4 miles from the centre of Salisbury. Plenty of country walks from the property and only a short drive to the centre of Salisbury with all its attractions. Also day trips further afield to the New Forest. The layout of the accommodation is very good, plenty of space and the facilities provided are excellent.

“This was a beautiful apartment, very well appointed.”

We were a family of six. There are some lovely walks on the doorstep. over some Downs. The weather was so good, that we didn't venture far, but enjoyed relaxing in the garden. Just one thing, we would have liked more hand towels, as only one per bathroom was provided.

“Superb accommodation, beautifully furnished.”

Disappointed that the showers did not have a safety rail. This particularly affected me as I have a balance problem and a fear of falling, so each day started very nervously when showering. Apart from that the owner, Nigel, was very friendly and obliging and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

“Shutts House Garden Apartment surpassed our expectations.”

It’s even nicer in reality than it looks in the photos; so spacious and luxurious, offering every facility we could have wished for during our stay. The beds were fantastically comfortable and everywhere was immaculately clean. Nigel was the perfect host. He emailed us a week before our stay with ample helpful information including directions, general information about the property itself, plus various useful tips on local places to eat and visit. He also provided us with a lovely welcome pack of goodies. As mentioned in the listing, Nigel lives upstairs in the property with a separate access, but we never once felt observed at any time during our stay. He manages to strike the perfect balance of being welcoming (he popped round to say hello upon arrival and check we were ok) whilst also being extremely discrete and allowing us total privacy. We found Coombe Bissett to be a small but picturesque village with lovely dog walks over Coombe Bissett Down right on the doorstep. I can’t recommend this property highly enough.

“The apartment was beautifully finished to a very high standard, superbly comfortable and the owner had literally thought of everything.”

It had a really well equipped kitchen (right down to the pastry brush, garlic press, cling film and wine cooler!) There were a stunning walks in the Coombe Bissett Downs right on the doorstep yet near enough to Salisbury to enjoy culture, shops and restaurants. Great dog friendly pubs nearby. Highly recommended and perfect for dog owners.

Nigel was easy-going, helpful and welcoming on our arrival and very considerate to our requirements. The apartment was cleverly and beautifully appointed, providing not only comfort but everything we needed was there in pristine condition and quantity. We literally wanted for nothing. Nigel even went above and beyond with our welcome pack of goodies, leaving so many delicious local special treats which we really appreciated. Our family has rented many holiday homes in many places and we can honestly say this this was the best, for all the above reasons and we would love to have spent more time there. We would definitely recommend it.

Nestling in its private and secluded surroundings on the edge of the pretty village of Coombe Bissett, you will certainly have the impression of escaping to the country when you take up residence here but with all the modern comforts such sumptuous accommodation offers.

The owner, who lives in the upper part of the house with a completely separate entrance on the other side, have lovingly converted the lower level into an ultra-contemporary space with beautiful floors, soft furnishings and the highest standards of luxury throughout.
