“We had a lovely family break staying together in Notts House.”

Communication was excellent with Lynn who was so helpful and left a gratefully received welcome hamper. Staying in a property like Notts House is a unique experience - if only those walls could speak! The house is warm and cosy and is equipped with everything (and more) that you could need. It has a wonderful (and again unique) location in Wellington, which is a delightful village. The community shop is well stocked with helpful and friendly staff; in fact, everyone in the village was friendly ...

The community shop is well stocked with helpful and friendly staff; in fact, everyone in the village was friendly. My husband and daughter' partner went to watch the local football team and were warmly welcomed after the game at the social club - so they were very happy!! Lovely countryside for walking just out of the gate. Amongst other locations we visited Leominster, Hereford, Ross and Hay on Wye. Would thoroughly recommend the Weir Gardens and other National Trust properties nearby - Croft Castle and Berrington Hall. Can't recommend highly enough. Thank you Lynn.

The property

Notts House is a delightful Grade II listed cottage, in a charming village with plenty of character.

It is only 6 miles from the Cathedral city of Hereford and 8 miles from the market town of Leominster.

It’s churchyard setting overlooks the 15th century village of Wellington, with its village shop and community centre.

Throughout its history, Notts House has been the village school, the village brewery, and is now a sympathetically restored cottage, full of period features.

This half-timbered cottage is approached via double gates that lead to a gravelled parking area with ornamental shrubs and hedging, along with a lovely patio and a garden shed, and to the west of the cottage is a further lawned garden enclosed by laurel and leylandi hedging for a private, secluded feel.

Step inside to find a wonderful first-rate setup; it’s slate floors, exposed timbers, stonework and impressive fireplaces make a comfortable holiday home, spread over three levels.

You enter the ground floor via an oak-framed entrance porch, to find an open-plan farmhouse-style kitchen, a lounge, study, cloakroom and boot room leading to the rear entrance.

The first floor landing takes you to a cloakroom, a tiled wet room, the well-appointed en-suite master bedroom, and a second bedroom.

The third and fourth bedroom are found on the second floor via an open-tread spiral staircase leading from the inner landing, both boasting lovely views and one even has its own washbasin.

The surrounding area has much on offer with the city of Hereford just a short drive away along with the delightful regions of Shropshire and The Cotswolds.

A short stroll will lead you to a handy village shop and post office to stock up on treats, and you can jump in the car to explore the National Trust's Weir Garden or tee up at The Herefordshire Golf Club, The Bell at Tilltington 2,7 miles Englands Gate 4,4 miles away.

Visit the vibrant city of Herford, where you can tour the spectacular cathedral, unveil rich history at Black and White House Museum and sample crisp cider at Hereford Cider Museum Trust.

Settled along the River Severn is the city of Worcester, home to Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum to soak in the culture or why not have some family fun at the Tenpin bowling?
