“It was inconvenient to only go into the property after 4.”

00 as we had travelled a long way from the south of France. However, once parked on the pavement outside we unloaded in the dark, the cottage was warm with a lovely Christmas tree. We managed to find parking in the square which we risked for a longer time than restricted hours allowed! The cottage is really nice in places with the basic requirements for a short stay. Main bed and linen comfortable and warm apart from heavy creaking when one got out of bed! Main problem was the hole in the sink ...

Main problem was the hole in the sink so washing up was impossible as we found out when leaking appeared below. The sitting room chairs could do with a bit of upgrading as their covers looked well used. The curtain over the front door was half hanging off. The loo seats on both loos need some tightening as wobbled. The tiny wash basin in the bathroom had mould underneath due to so much water spilling over the side. Overall we enjoyed using the cottage. It was perfect for our needs and family nearby. We would use it again especially if a little more attention had been paid to the above mentioned and if the price was a little less out of the Christmas period.

Ideally situated on the banks of the Thames, just outside the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Halfpenny Cottage is an excellent alternative for couples or a small family of four.

You'll feel right at home in the bright and airy living area, where you can kick-back and relax on the plush sofa and watch your favourite show.

In the fully-equipped kitchen/dining area, prepare your favourite foods to enjoy at the dining table for four over a bottle of wine, or alfresco in your very own private garden.

The ground level is completed by a convenient boot room and a cloakroom.

After a long day of sightseeing, head up to the first floor, where you can relax in one of the two attractively appointed bedrooms, a king-size and a double, both with lots of storage space and access to a sleek shower room.

Take a stroll through the town, where you can eat at the Riverside, The Swan Inn and Trout Inn, stock up on necessities at the convenience store, take a boat trip on the River Thames, visit the Cotswold Christmas Shop, picnic in Riverside Park, or continue on to Buscot to explore the fascinating National Trust site of Buscot Park, which is located nearby.

You'll next come to Cirencester to check out the Corinium Museum, the open-air swimming pool, the historic Amphitheatre, or to put your skills to the test at the world-class Cirencester Golf Club.

Oxford, with its famed university, castle and prison, distillery, museum, and two Michelin-starred restaurants (Magdalen Arms and Pompette), is a little further away.

Halfpenny Cottage is the starting point of your journey to the Cotswolds.
