“Nice quiet location.”

The surrounding woodland was lovely to walk in and lovely to see various wildlife. Bed was very comfortable and we slept well but we found the sofa very uncomfortable and uneven. Fridge was listed as having freezer compartment but there wasn't one. The cleanliness could have been better, cobwebs in bedroom and dressing table mirror was dirty, cobwebs on kitchen walls and dust on cooker hood and dirty mirror in cloakroom.

“For us as a little family bringing our Labrador retriever this is simply a perfekt place.”

The nature is outstanding. Everyday we took a long walk in the woods and enjoyed it very much. It is also easy to take a trip to the beautiful villages nearby and to Oxford. The owner and his wife are kind people who took time to come and welcome us. The Barn itself is also a perfekt place to relax. There was everything we needed. It was the third time we were there. “Lovely cottage in the grounds of a stunning Manor House.”

We (and our dog) enjoyed walks around the estate seeing lots of wildlife and views across the countryside. Cottage is in a great location for trips to the Oxfordshire side of the Cotswolds such as Woodstock, Blenhiem Palace and of course Oxford. Would highly recommend. Thanks for a lovely stay.

“What a wonderful cottage or should I say barn!”

It was immaculate and so well equipped and the bed was blissfully comfortable. The owners were very friendly but didn't intrude upon us at all. What a fantastic welcome when we arrived to find a lovely hand written card wishing us an enjoyable stay, a bottle of wine chilling in the fridge and some chocolates on the kitchen table. What more could you ask for! The setting of the barn was incredible, next to the main house within a beautiful private estate, so quiet and peaceful but well positioned for access to both Oxford and the Oxfordshire countryside and villages. We will definitely be returning, in fact we intend to stay here regularly now that we have discovered such a gem.

“West Barn is an absolutely beautiful property.”

Immaculately presented, clean and extremely comfortable. The huge bed is amazing! It was fantastic to wake up, open the curtains and lie in bed watching deer, pheasants and guinea fowl right outside the window. The owners were extremely welcoming and left wine and chocolates for us - thank you! We loved being able to wander through the peace and quiet of the beautiful woods with our dog and see so much wildlife right on the doorstep. Re the previous comment about the bathroom, we found it perfectly comfortable. Great to have a separate 2nd toilet too. Lovely location near Oxford and only 4 miles from Woodstock and Blenheim Palace. We highly recommend this property.

“Lovely location, idilic setting.”

Kind & thoughtful welcome greeting to include wine & chocolate. Considering the size of the bathroom a much more relaxing size bath and shower would have been appreciated. Water temperature inconsistent and the pressure too made for a very uncomfortable shower time. We would recommend but wouldn’t return ourselves as an enclosed area for our dog to have freedom to roam would be our preference.

Unfortunately we cannot do anything about the size of the bath at the cottage, it's just a standard bath size. With regards to the water, can i ask if you spoke to the owner about this, as I'm sure they would have been happy to look at it for you?. With regards to having an enclosed garden, your correct it doesn't have this, but we would be happy to advise you on another property for another future bookings, when you have an enclosed garden for your dog. “It is a lovely barn.”

It is our favourite so far. It is in a lovely setting which was perfect for our Dog. Lots of wildlife around the grounds such as Guinea fowl, Deer, Squirrels, Owls etc. The TV was large and had a fantastic sound system. Lovely size kitchen. The Owner's were lovely people , very informative and welcoming. We had lovely little extra's on our arrival , which were greatly appreciated . We will definitely go back

“The barn had wood lice in the bathroom and the bedroom had to hover them up every day , the toilet in the utility was very badly stained , the tray in the cooker was very dirty unusable, we came home a day early because of the wood lice.”

“Absolutely wonderful hosts, They were very hospitable but were also able to allow space.”

The grounds are incredible and perfect for a walk with or without the dog. Lots of fantastic wildlife around including guinea fowl, pheasants and an owl. There are some great local walks which were less than 5 minutes away and some lovely local pubs. The barn itself was perfectly equipped and very clean. It is well kept and very spacious. They have done a brilliant job in ensuring it looks stylish and homely. I would 100% recommend this as a stay.

We had the most amazing week.Totally relaxed and enjoyed the surroundings so much.West Barn exceeded our expectations it was gorgeous,comfortable and peaceful.set in 180 acres of woodland.we had the pleasure of seeing the Guinea fowl,pheasants,deer and a woodpecker visited the lawn.Amazing walks and visits to oxford,Stratford-upon-Avon and chipping norton.We had a delightful walk to the village and stopped at the pub where we chatted to locals that were very friendly.We met the owners of west barn who were really welcoming and lovely people.We cannot wait to stay again.

West Barn offers a very high quality 'home from home' in a truly idyllic location deep in the Oxfordshire Cotswolds.

Situated outside the very beautiful village of Tackley (close to Woodstock and Blenheim Palace) the property sits in the grounds of the owner's house, in a clearing within some woods and enjoys an extremely tranquil setting with, literally, no more than birdsong to break the silence!

Inside the cottage is beautifully furnished and very spacious with all modern facilities to make your stay very comfortable.

The huge TV and surround sound system are certainly appealing....

With walks from your front door and a host of local attractions and places to visit, this is an exceptional holiday cottage for two people.

About the location

TACKLEY

Woodstock 3 miles; Bicester 11 miles; Oxford 14 miles.

Tackley is a picturesque village situated in the Oxfordshire Cotswolds, approx 8 miles north of Oxford and 3 miles from Woodstock, home of Blenheim Palace. The name Tackley is derived from 'tack' which means sheep or ewe and 'ley' which means glade or clearing! The village is very pretty, has a good village shop and a local pub The Gardiner Arms. There is another pub just outside the village called Sturdy's Castle.

Nearby there are some superb attractions to visit. Rousham Hall is very close by and although there are restrictions to visiting etc, it is a beautiful stately home. Oxford,'The city of the Dreaming Spires' and colleges is just 15 mins by car. There are literally hours of things to do there! For the determined shopper, Bicester Village which is a vast outlet centre.

Woodstock has a good range of local pubs, along with restaurants, shops and stores while the famous Blenheim Palace, home to the Duke of Malborough is well worth a day trip.
