Beautiful cottage - one of those rare finds where it not only lives up to the photos, but exceeds expectations in every way!

Absolutely everything has been thought about, all of the essentials are set out when you arrive, along with a generous welcome pack of biscuits and chocolates. Information in the guest books is really helpful and check in was made simple. All rooms were immaculate and had the perfect layout for a family of 6. We had two cars and got parked on the street outside with no problem. Lovely scenic location, would highly recommend.

Perfect location and exceptionally clean - a great base for the Cotswolds.

Walking distance to everything Burford has to offer and whilst parking is on the street we never had to leave the car too far away. Highly recommend. A note for tall people. Due to this being an old cottage, the fixed shower head in the bathroom is rather low. Didn’t cause an issue though.

We had the best time

We had a lovely weekend stay at Wall Cottage.

We already knew the area, having stayed nearby before, and the cottage was very easy to find—just a short walk from the free car park. The key was simple to locate and access to the cottage was straightforward. Although the cottage is small and cosy, it feels well laid out and comfortably accommodates a family. The bedrooms are a good size and the beds were comfortable. The standout feature is the location: just a gentle stroll into Burford with its many pubs, eateries and shops, and only a short drive to the Farmer’s Dog. The cottage is well equipped with clear instructions throughout. The only minor issue we had was with the Wi‑Fi password, which is handwritten and not entirely clear as to which characters are upper or lower case—leading to a few failed attempts. A helpful tip is that there’s a card with a QR code on the back of the router, which makes connecting much easier. One slightly odd detail was that a couple of lamps that weren’t working had been left on the dining table by a previous visitor and hadn’t been removed prior to our arrival. We ate out at the Farmer’s Dog, the Bull, and the Lamb Inn, and all three were excellent. It’s worth noting that the free car park nearby is limited to 12 hours in any 24‑hour period, so it isn’t suitable for leaving your car there for the entire weekend. I moved our car early on Saturday morning and found plenty of on‑street parking available nearby. Overall, we had a great stay and would highly recommend Wall Cottage.

Our second time at Wall Cottage within the last 6-7 months.

We love the location and the proximity to relatives. It’s a cosy and quiet place that works well for us. However - echoing my review after our stay last December - the property isn’t getting enough love and it’s getting tired. We would very much like to stay again during our regular visit to family, so offer the following as constructive input. We would be delighted if Sykes / Manor Cottages would invest just a little time and effort into small improvements. - Beds are just one size too small for normal people to share as a couple. This mean that for a stay any longer than a day or two people have to sleep in separate beds, thereby reducing the real occupancy level to a comfortable four (2 adults plus two kids). Slightly larger beds would easily fit in the bedrooms and would make a world of difference to comfort. - the extractor fan in the downstairs cloakroom / toilet still doesn’t work. Feedback provided last time also - the house instruction manual isn’t adequate for appliances. Instructions such as “operating the washing machine is straightforward” isn’t great for people from overseas. - TV - the manual states that basic / freeview channels are available. They’re not. The TV is useless unless you sign in to subscription platforms. - the dining furniture is getting old. What could help a lot is some small felt pads under each chair leg to stop the terrible scraping sounds every time someone moves. It would protect the floor also. - we like to cook during our stay and the kitchen is nicely equipped with utensils and pots and pans. However - the most basic provisions such as salt and pepper aren’t provided. Super cheap and really easy to fix, especially considering the other lovely provisions such as crisps and biscuits etc that are given as welcome gifts. - the garden and patio are now really scruffy. The heating oil tank - that has swelled to burst out of its fence - emits a really strong smell that makes enjoying the patio difficult. At least box in the tank properly to help with this. Also, overgrown brambles and plants - or dead ones - aren’t helping. It appears as if nobody is paying any care to the outside space. - the upstairs bathroom needs re-sealing. Obviously this has been attempted before with quick repairs around the shower, but they haven’t been down well, look poor and are going mouldy. The sealant is failing and water leaks from the corner of the shower. This is going to be a big issue for the floor under the bath eventually. Again, we really enjoy the convenience and location of Wall Cottage and would like to stay again. However, for the price, this lovely property needs a lot more love and attention.

We really enjoyed our stay at Wall Cottage and would like to visit again this year when we’re back in the area.

But I’d like to share some feedback and observations about the property that I think would really make a positive difference. Some are a couple maintenance and upkeep items, others are recommendations for improvements. - the extractor fan in the downstairs cloakroom doesn’t work. We couldn’t see an isolator switch anywhere to turn it on so assume it’s broken. - the kitchen was very nicely equipped but it would hugely benefit from a knife block on the worktop. Simply laying sharp knives in the cutlery drawer with a load of other stuff lends to cut fingers. - there were perhaps 10 mixed clothes hangers for both bedrooms. Even a good quantity of cheap wire hangers would be helpful. - generally the paint, grout and trim throughout the place needs a lot of TLC. Maybe this is an annual thing you have planned for early in 2025 but it detracts from otherwise a really nice cottage. - could the oil tank in the back garden be fenced in? That, and some basic landscaping with low-maintenance shrubs would go a long way in improving the view and usability of the patio area. - the main piece of feedback for improvement from us is the beds…. The beds are nice comfortable but they’re just too small for a couple. The bedrooms are large and could easily accommodate wider beds and would allow a comfortable, peaceful nights sleep for both. This really is a huge element to how enjoyable a week away in the cottage is. Please consider it and we’ll be back in a heartbeat! We enjoyed our stay and appreciated the amenities, loca

To begin with it was our first trip to UK, and my wife had researched thoroughly into this beautiful cottage in Cotswold,just as beautiful as the Cotswold itself.

The cottage was very well organised with all the facilities and equipment needed for a family. Every instructions was put in place making us more comfortable to feel like home.

Fantastic property, very well equipped.

Ideal location with great facilities within walking distance. On street parking was an issue, with no spaces on the street for the duration of our stay until the last morning, having to instead use the car park which wasn’t ideal when emptying the car or carrying sleeping toddler. The staircase was a little narrower/steeper than my elderly father expected however appreciate age of the property. Children loved their bedroom until the last night when the temperature of the properly was unbearable due to high temperatures outside. A few fans would have been very welcome. A blind on the landing window would also be appreciated as this window let lots of light in the early morning.

Perfect spot just a few minutes away from the high street and very quiet .

Facilities were excellent and felt like a home from home after bring out for the day. We noted just a little thing, which would help older visitors. The front door was quite difficult to open and close ( the lock ) Otherwise excellent.

We had a wonderful and comfortable stay in Wall Cottage, which was perfectly situated for our needs.

Its description was accurate and the cottage is surprisingly light and roomy and very well equipped, although the addition of a wall mirror and hair dryer in the attic room would be useful. From a maintenance point of view, when using the shower, water leaks from the corner of the screen and tracks across the bathroom towards the sink. This needs rectifying before it causes an accident or damage to the property.

We have stayed at several Sykes Cottages before and this is the only one we've not felt able to provide a 5* review for.

The cottage is well located, a few minutes off the high street, in Burford and looks just like the photos on the site, however, there was an overwhelming smell of kerosene fumes (or some sort of fuel) which was noxious and nauseating throughout the downstairs living area. The smell would particularly build up during the night and throughout the day when we were out, so we would have to leave the back door and front windows open whenever we used the kitchen, dining and living area. This wasn't too problematic when the weather was hot but we had a few cold rainy days and it was unpleasant to sit in the cold, but even more unpleasant to tolerate the fumes/vapour build up when we closed the doors and windows. The managing agent responded quickly by immediately sending out plumbers twice during our 5 day stay but neither time could they identify or resolve the issue. We didn't have a baby or small children with us but if we had I wouldn't have felt comfortable, or felt it safe to stay in this property, and can only hope that the owner/managing agent can sort out this issue before the property is let to subsequent visitors. On a more minor note the kitchen didn't appear that well kitted out for people who like to cook so would benefit from serving spoons, sturdy cutting boards, wooden spoons, garlic crusher, etc.

We had a lovely stay,just some feedback with having teenage daughter there was no full length mirror in the cottage and none in the bedrooms , more coat hangers would be useful.

For me it was beautiful but perhaps due to space no seating for 5 in the living room we did bring one chair from the kitchen. Nothing negative at all we had a lovely stay. Thank you :)

It was a beautiful cottage in a beautiful village, lots of pubs, restaurants and cafes nearby.

There was however some simple amenities that could have been supplied to make our stay easier, such a toilet roll, there was only one roll left, there was no bath mat, which meant we have to use the hand towel on the floor, there was no shower gel or any complimentary shampoo which we would usually expect, there was also no cleaning products for us to wipe down the inside of the fridge or clean the countertops

We were really surprised as to how good this cottage is:quite spacious enough for the five of us.

The kitchen was equipped with all that we needed . It was spotless too. Only one criticism:the diesel smell in the back patio was at times pungent!

Wall Cottage is a generously sized and well positioned property in Burford.

It is near the High Street but in a quiet setting. It is equipped to a vary high standard. The beds were very comfortable and the shower was fabulous. It was a delight to sit in the rear courtyard garden in the late afternoon sun. Would visit again.

Wall Cottage is an absolutely beautiful cottage within a beautiful location.

Plenty of space, immaculately clean and incredibly cosy. We all adored the log fire and the children loved their attic room (which had a beautiful view of the old roof tops in the village). A slightly bigger bed would’ve been great in one of the double rooms as my hubby is 6ft 4 and we have a super-king at home. We resolved it by him sleeping on his own in one of the doubles. There would be room for a bigger bed as the bedrooms are lovely and spacious. We couldn’t have been happier with our stay and would recommend anyone else a visit. Thank you - a wonderful half term enjoyed by us all!

Not enough wine glasses of same type for 6 people.

Indications on different coloured bin liners confusing (supposed to be supplied and were not...), needed calling customer service to resolve issue (used black ones all round...). Many thanks for Christmas tree and goodies on the table !

Much bigger than photos make out lovely family open plan space with good sized bedrooms.

Easy access to Burford high street by foot, just 2 streets away. Parking was busy but never had a problem finding a space. lovely treats on arrival thank you, would definetly stay again ☺

Wall Cottage was a perfect base for exploring beautiful Burford and surrounding towns.

The cottage is less than 2 minutes from Burford high street where there are lots of great restaurants and shops. We did a lot of walking both around Burford without having to get in the car and also driving 10-15 mins to the next couple of towns to do some exploring elsewhere as well. The cottage had everything we needed and although we didn't cook there seemed very well equipped if you wanted to do so. The beds and pillows were comfy and the towels were lovely! I would definitely recommend staying here and would stay again.
