“We visited the area primarily to attend the RIAT 2024 event at RAF Fairford.”

The accomodation suited us perfectly and the hosts were brilliant. I would like to point out just one thing that may help future visitors. Decent WIFI. Some of us, though on holiday, still have commitments whilst away that require internet access. There was decent WIFI here with about 40Mb down, 10Mb up. This would be usefull to put on the description of the property, more owners should. Also, O2 mobile signal and any carriers that use O2, for example Giffgaff, Tesco and others, is non existent within the property. This will prevent you receiving SMS verification codes etc, even though you have the WIFI. You can go out onto the small balcony though and you will be able to then get a very weak signal. Personally, I went out and bought a 3 sim card and used that whilst I was there. Would I visit again, absolutely!

“Cider Press is a lovely apartment for a mini break or holiday.”

The location is perfect with the High St and all the shops, cafes, pubs within walking distance. The studio apartment is extremely comfortable, a good size for two people and fully equipped. The shower is a great size, there is plenty of wardrobe and drawer space and there is a lovely shared garden space next to the river for the warmer months. A bottle of fizz for the New Year was a lovely touch and there was milk in the fridge and tea and coffee. The owner made sure that everything was ok once we had settled in which was much appreciated. We had a fantastic few days despite the dreadful weather and wouldn’t think twice about returning.

Very clean and well maintained. Only downside was the squeaky floorboards of the flat above which woke you up. When we booked it wasnt clear that it was all in one room, the layout makes it feel larger than it is with seperate areas so it doesnt feel small. Beautiful setting would definitely stay again.

“We had a wonderful stay at the Cider Press.”

Brilliant location to explore the Cotswolds and only a stone’s throw from many places of interest. Apartment was extremely well equipped and all high quality furnishings. The bed was super comfy. The hosts were very helpful and even left us a bottle of red wine and milk along with tea, coffee etc. There was also the added bonus of a laundry room which was a godsend due to our dirty walking clothes. Plenty of great pubs all within walking distance too! Our only tiny issue was, as a few others had mentioned, the squeaky floorboards above. However, it’s a very old mill with such a beautiful setting that it didn’t detract from the wonderful place. We would most definitely book again when returning to the Cotswolds.

“We enjoyed our stay at this property mostly, it is well situated for the town within easy walking distance and a good base to visit the rest of the cotswolds.”

It is well furnished inside and quite modern.However the amount of black mold in the shower cubicle grouting was a low point when we first saw the bathroom especially as we were staying for a week!We also found out early on that the apartment above has a creaky floor which is directly above the bed and woke us most nights when the person above required the bathroom.The seating area at the front was not very inviting and could be made more usable it would benefit from a tidy up and would be better if the owner did not park his large estate car in the space.Overall we had a good time but feel these issues need addressing!

Extremely clean, comfy bed and super shower. Sofa is tiny but comfortable and decor is modern with a homely feel. Enjoyed waking up each morning and hearing the ducks etc out on the river. Parking was easy even though it was roadside. 5 mins walk into town where you will find plenty of pubs and cafes. Good base for exploring the Cotswolds.

Sykes had advised of a 18:00 check in, which we factored into our day, however the owner of the cottage phoned to say it would be ready by 13:00 - so others may find it beneficial to be flexible with their plans.

“Our stay at the Cidar Press Apartment was without doubt the very best, most comfortable and peaceful you could possibly ask.”

The view were superb right beside the river windrush, with swans and ducks floating passed as squirrels play in the branches of trees outside the window. The Apartment is perfect, clean fresh with immaculate furniture, kitchen and bathroom fittings. The hosts are friendly going out of their way to make the stay perfect. There are lots of eating places around a lot recommended by Barry. We recommend the Royal Oak and the Golden Pheasant. (This is a safe environment given the present covid crisis, both the apartment and the eating places, following strict government guidelines ) Thank you to everyone who helped to make our stay enjoyable.

“Lovely host, very comfy bed, charming English accommodation (don't be put off with the bedroom and lounge in one room, if you view it as an hotel suite you'll love it,) .”

Clean and very quiet (you don't hear the water mill as shown in the online brochure), lots of lovely eateries nearby if you don't fancy cooking in the kitchen. Just wallow in the river view from the lounge as swans and ducks come to feed courtesy of the hosts. I suppose the best reference is that a return visit will be forthcoming!

“We had a lovely time at the Cider Press.”

The hosts were lovely and happy to show us around. Unfortunately, the pots in the cupboard not not been cleaned very well and had crusty food suck on them - more the fault of the people before I would think, but was still a bit unpleasant having to wash them before use. A washing up bowl would have also been useful. Everything else was lovely and the location was perfect for walking into the village. It was a shame there was only parking available on the road, but we were assured that this would be fine and it was.

Unfortunately we hit on a wet week so perhaps a downside of The Cider Press is that your car parking is not immediate to the flat. Spotlessly clean, it felt newly refurbished and high quality e.g very comfy bed, amazing shower, nice art. We didn't have neighbours above us so it was quiet. There were lots of things to do nearby with our toddler, the crocodile park is great for a rainy day, the wildlife park is amazing. Burford offers all you need for local eateries, shops and Cotswold charm. We'd highly recommend this place.

Not crucial and don't want to nitpick, but not keen on the chairs! Also think I'd fix the squeaky floorboards upstairs - should be easily done. Otherwise, rather expensive for a studio flat for 5 nights in March, but Cotswolds not a cheap area, is it?!

The property

Cider Press is a charming, modern and very comfortable First floor studio apartment with stunning views over the millstream and neighboring woodland.

There's a balcony overlooking the pretty garden and stream.

The millstream runs underneath the Mill, with a beautiful waterfall.

Offering the best of both worlds, it's very quiet and secluded, but only 5-minute walk from Burford town centre, with its stylish shops, and an excellent choice of pubs and restaurants in one direction, and beautiful countryside walks in the other.

About the location

Burford

Burford is possibly one of, if not THE most famous of the Cotswolds' locations. With its medieval bridge, old stone houses and attractive Tudor and Georgian frontages, Burford is justifiably one of the most picturesque towns in England. Often referred to as the 'Gateway to the Cotswolds', the town was originally a fortified Anglo-Saxon ford which later grew to be an important regional crossroads and wealthy wool town. Located mid way between Oxford and Cheltenham (25 mins each away) it is a little haven of history and beauty that many come to fall in love with when they visit.

The 16th century Tolsey building, once the meeting place for medieval merchants, now houses The Tolsey Museum, a delightful local museum illustrating the town's social and industrial past. The church is stunning, a real gem architecturally with many interesting memorials charting some of Burford's great families. There is also the signature, on the baptisimal font, of Antony Sedley, one of the Levellers besieged in the church in 1649 - three of the ringleaders were executed by Oliver Cromwell's men in the churchyard. History awaits!

With little changing over the centuries, Burford is now very popular with visitors, both for its beauty and history but also for its shopping and antiques, and for the wide variety of places to eat, with restaurants, pubs and teashops. It is an ideal base for visiting The Cotswolds area as it is within easy driving distance of popular attractions such as Blenheim Palace, Sudley Castle, Warwick Castle and several National Trust Houses and Gardens. Bourton on the Water, Bibury, Cirencester and Stow on the Wold are all with 25 minutes from the property.
