“We really loved the Cheese Room, it was perfect for us and our two little dogs for a short stay.”

The welcome hamper was very generous, especially the cheese! The cottage came equipped with nearly everything we needed, though a couple of wooden spoons wouldn’t go amiss, the toilet seat didn’t fit and was quite wobbly. Otherwise, we couldn’t fault it and had a few happy days there. The village is quiet and friendly, we visited the pub a couple of times and there’s a nice loop around the village for dog walks. All in all, a definite recommend.

“Super and snug!”

Lovely welcome pack on arrival and the kitchen whilst compact has everything you need Nice touches like cheese in the fridge and fresh milk plus delightful toiletries in the bathroom The stairs to the bedroom are steep but as long as you are aware of that before booking it shouldn’t be an issue as what you find upstairs is the comfiest of beds! The village is very quiet and very pretty, and the plough Inn is a 2 minute walk away where the happy hour 5-7pm is available. Food is nice too. We enjoyed our stay very much and left feeling relaxed and recharged

“We had a wonderful stay at The Cheese Room with our young cocker spaniel.”

Lucy & Andy, the owners, live next door and are on hand for any assistance but leave you to yourselves otherwise. The cottage is quaint, really nicely decorated and all of the space used well. The village is very quiet with just a pub and no shops, but the pub food was great, and it is only a short drive to the next town to go shopping. There is so much to do in the Cotswolds and the location of this cottage is ideal for getting anywhere, being only a couple of minutes drive from the main A road, taking you to all the sights of the area. Highly recommend The Cheese Room for a stay in the Cotswolds!

“I did not realise that there was no garden.”

I did check to make sure that there was an outside area as I have a dachshund but it is not a garden. It is not a property suitable for a dog. Also there is a huge drop in front of the door which is quite dangerous when you are elderly as I am. When you are in the shower which is excellent by the way the floor becomes very slippery which again could be dangerous. The cottage is lovely otherwise and beautifully arranged.

“What a great place.”

“We enjoyed a very peaceful and relaxing stay at the Cheese Room, all we could hear during our 4 day stay was the sound of bird song.”

The house is very comfortable, cosy and well equipped. The welcome basket was generous with lots of nice touches throughout the house. The location is central to visit the beautiful surrounding towns and to enjoy country walks. We would like to return again, it’s a lovely place to recharge the batteries .

“The cottage was very nice to stay in.”

Very homely and cosy. I actually think it looks a bit nicer than the pictures! Lots of small touches/attention to detail in the decor. The faux fireplace was also really nice. The only thing we really didn't like was the bed... It is very creaky and felt a little unstable. The very soft mattress definitely didn't help with that either. In terms of constructive feedback for the host - it would be good to check tea/coffee etc. between guests. We only had one coffee pod, the rest were just milk, and the instant coffee was also very old really dark and stuck together. We also only had 1 dishwasher tablet for 3 nights.

We had a really lovely time and would definitely recommend for anyone wanting to visit the area! Lucy was very friendly and helpful prior to our stay ,providing local information and making sure we arrived to a cosy and welcoming place after our long drives! The property is spotless, beautifully decorated and very homely- We both commented how we could live there! Lots of little touches that really helped us feel at home! We got lucky with the weather which meant we could do lots of beautiful local dog walks and explore the cotswolds. Would love to return!

Very cosy with all the comforts and spotlessly clean. We wanted to tour some Cotswold gardens and as the location was perfect for this we were spoilt for choice…most we could get to within a 20 minute drive! “Converted farm building into tastefully quality holiday home.”

Extremely clean and well appointed, Welcome hamper a nice touch, well equipped and our dog catered for. Nice walks across nearby fields. Not suitable for those with mobility issues due to steep stairs and deep step. Village really quiet and pretty. A good base for sightseeing. Would definently recommend.

“Great hosts, welcome pack is a lovely touch enough for a full meal after travelling no need to go to the shops, Lucy and Andrew are very friendly but not in your face, introduced themselves shorty after arriving, nothing was to much trouble.”

ideally located for all the usual tourist spots yet lovely and secluded off the main roads, ideal to walk the dog in safety. The closest pub doesn't let dogs in to the bar (yet) but plenty of outside seating under cover and loads of other local hostelries more than accommodating, looking forward to revisiting next time i am in the area.

“It’s a beautiful property.”

Very stylish. But we were disappointed with the outdoor space. Very tiny and access only by going out to the front and round a path! Had wanted to be able to let our dog out - without having to put him on the lead. No oven, so unable to cook the food we had taken! Dining table really small. Not for us.

The Cheese Room is a delightful one-bedroom holiday cottage on the Warwickshire / Gloucestershire border, tucked away in the picturesque village of Stretton-on-Fosse.

Enveloped in rural countryside and enjoying easy access to the delights of Warwickshire, Gloucestershire and the Cotswolds, The Cheese Room is a wonderful location for a romantic getaway.

Park up in the off-road space provided, unload your belongings, and stroll up the stone steps to the front door of this lovely abode to begin your stay cation, removing any shoes and coats as you enter the handy hallway space.

An electric fire, exposed wooden beams and sliding stable doors are just some of the characterful elements that give the open-plan living/dining area a traditional feel; brew a cup of tea and put your feet up in front of the television for a moment of relaxation.

Moving through the property, you'll find a handmade, bespoke oak wooden kitchen with stone work tops, equipped with everything you need to prepare romantic dinners to be enjoyed at the dining table or outside in the private courtyard under the stars.

At the end of an action-packed day, prepare for bed with an invigorating rinse before climbing the stairs to the first floor to catch your rest under the covers of the sumptuous double bed (PLEASE NOTE: there is a sofa-bed in the bedroom suitable for 1 child.

There's no better place to relax at the end of the day than the village pub,.The Plough Inn, a traditional English pub where you may eat, drink, and unwind while listening to the crackle of an open fire.

Chipping Campden, a market town just a few miles away, has a plethora of restaurants, pubs and cafes to choose from, catering to all tastes and price points.

The Cotswolds is easily accessible from The Cheese Room, making it a haven for outdoor enthusiasts; the rolling countryside is home to a network of scenic walking, biking, and hiking trails.

You can also explore the internationally renowned Batsford Arboretum and Garden Centre or visit the National Trust-protected Jacobean architecture of Chastleton House.

As William Shakespeare's birthplace, Stratford-upon-Avon is a must-see for anyone interested in the 16th century playwright's works, and his half-timbered Birthplace is open for guided tours for those who want to learn more about him.

Moreton-in-Marsh 4 miles; Chipping Campden 5 miles; Stratford-upon-Avon 13 miles.

The small and picturesque village of Stretton-on-Fosse has fewer than 200 houses, most built of locally-made red brick and Cotswold stone and is situated on the Warwickshire-Gloucestershire border on the edge of the Cotswolds Hills. The village boasts a friendly local, The Plough Inn, which serves a fine selection of ales and home-cooked meals. The village also hosts an annual village show which features a Scarecrow Festival. The pretty market town of Shipston-on-Stour, three miles away, boasts many shops, restaurants and pubs, together with a magnificent 17th century church and many riverside walks and cycle routes. Stratford-upon-Avon, with Shakespeare's house, Ann Hathaway's cottage and its famous theatres and monuments, is just 13 miles away.
