Diane “After a long 5 hour drive we arrived to find the property occupied and we were unable to get access as there was no key in the key box.”
After waiting , we then rang the emergency no and spoke to a lovely lady who told us she would send the site manager.whilst waiting the people staying in the cottage turned up, after a long discussion they discovered they had got their dates mixed up. After another hour they left and we were able to get in after a lot of stress thinking we would need to drive 5 hours back home. I suggest maybe the key box has a number that only the people staying for that week know as it’s one number for every holiday maker at the moment

Eddie “This is a lovely property situated in the village of Paxford some two and half miles from Chipping Campden.”
There are no shops or pubs in the village so you have to travel to other locations or as some have done walk. The property is decorated lovely and everything you need is catered for. The property is a cottage and one issue I found being so tall is that the door frame to the master bedroom somewhat low and I caught my head on it on a few occasions! The beds were lovely and we slept well, the shower room was also good. The kitchen had all the appliances you require and cutlery/dishes. We didn’t find the sofa in the sitting room that comfortable it’s a sofa bed and I tend to find these hard to sit on. We enjoyed our stay and had lovely weather, we did travel around the Cotswolds visited local towns and the gardens at Hidcote and Kiftsgate. All in all a lovely holiday.

Beds were comfortable and shower really good. The living room sofa was really uncomfortable and the carpet could do with being replaced. The flowers and shrubs in the garden covered the wall making it difficult to see when reversing your car so they would benefit from being cut back. Overall a pleasant stay with some nice walks.

It was immaculately decorated and very well maintained. Happily live there! My little boy didn’t want to leave and nor did we. Thoroughly recommend the Italian restaurant in Chipping Camden. And we adored the gardens at Hidcote and the weird collection at Snowshill. I saw the notice about the neighbours garden but there are privacy screens and honestly you wouldn’t have noticed at all. Absolutely no noise from next door. The walls are very thick. Slept so peacefully! Very comfy bed. Thank you for the welcome pack and for having us!

John “A lovely well equipped cottage in Paxford, 3 miles from Chipping Camden.”
Well maintained with a nice garden to the rear. Ideal location for exploring the northern Cotswolds with some excellent quintessential villages and excellent hostelries. Everything supplied for our needs for our stay including our dog. The only slight niggles were the close proximity of the neighbours access across the back of the dinning and kitchen as you look out into their garden and passageway and the reclined back of the sofa, not ideal for a pair of 60/70 somethings, but wouldn’t put us off booking again.

The house is done at very high standards, is causy and beautiful. High quality beddings and towels, kitchen fully equipped with everything and more, beyond essentials. The welcome pack of lovely snacks and drink was a very kind and pleasant surprise! If I had to list an improvement need, the only one thing we found was the wifi strength, having no signal in the 2nd bedroom. This in the end may not be a bad thing, as it forced my teenagers to be creative without their phones!

Heather “This was our second stay at this property and we loved it just as much as we did before, despite the rain!”
It feels like a real home from home and we can relax as soon as we get through the door. It is extremely well equipped and is just beautifully and tastefully furnished throughout. It is very well located near some really stunning areas of The Cotswolds, and some incredible walks. Lots of dog friendly pubs nearby, that really are dog friendly. Just can't fault it, had a fantastic week away and we will come again. Highly recommend.

Carol “The cottage was beautifully presented and was fitted with high quality goods, there was everything you need and more, also lovely welcome box.”
However- the cottage is advertised as dog friendly, it was but we could only take the dog out on a lead to the small courtyard area which was not attached to the property, there was assess right of way to the other attached terrace cottages so this area could not be cordoned off The terrace cottage is set on a main road so would not be safe for the dog if not on a lead. The cottage sleeps 4,but the lounge area is very small, would barely seat 4 people, this issue shortened our stay by 3 days as we felt quite cramped. The check in time is 5:00pm ( in the folder in the cottage it states 6:00pm) checkout time 10;00 am, leaving a shortage of 8 hours, due to the long list of terms and conditions we had to complete the itinerary of tasks and cleaning before 10:00 am on departure date, we felt this compromised our stay even more. On booking with Sykes we have to include £250 housekeeping fee which we felt excessive. We were informed on the check in day that the electric car charging point outside was not working and that the owner would try and get this repaired ( we have electric car) this did not happen. All in all we felt the cottage itself was beautiful but certainly not adequate for 4 people especially the lounge area. We would not return unfortunately. We do feel Sykes need to review some T&Cs; as can be misleading and off putting. . .

Martin “Beautiful cottage, with a fantastic range of luxurious touches, and a lovely welcome gift.”
If we were to pick faults, the photos of the sitting room have obviously been taken at a sympathetic angle, it was very cosy, and the pics of the garden are it. We had an issue with the EV charging, unfortunately Major Cottages never responded to us until after we had left. Overall, we would recommend highly for 2 people, any more might find it a bit snug I the sitting room.

Also it would be a good idea to extend the handrail at the top of the stairs. When you come out of the bedroom to go down the stairs, I had to bend to reach Bend to reach the handrail, other than that, everything was great and lovely cottage.

Heather “We had a really wonderful stay here, and could not fault it.”
It is a fantastic base to explore the Cotswold's, and the incredible scenery and history it has to offer. The house is so pretty and the décor so tasteful and stylish, yet retaining the warmth that made us feel so at home there. Everything you could need, or wish for, is supplied. It has a charming garden area to enjoy a glass of wine or a meal in the evenings. Our dog Lottie was thrilled with her doggie treats! There are some fantastic walks in the area, whether you are a keen rambler, or dog owners like us. We were extremely lucky with the weather, but also commented how lovely it would be there in the winter months, with the log burner and just the general cosiness of the house. We would certainly like to return and would strongly recommend it to family and friends. An exceptional experience.

The standard of cleanliness was excellent. Quiet location and a great base to explore all the surrounding villages, a big plus having parking. We slept well and loved the shower! We stayed for Christmas and it was beautifully decorated with tasteful decorations throughout including a lovely tree and a brilliant hamper which was most welcome and a lovely surprise.The property was spotlessly clean and very well equipped and we had a wonderful and peaceful stay. It is ideally situated being very close to all the lovely popular Cotswold towns and villages. The only dissapointment was the closure of the local pub The Churchill Arms that tragically suffered a major fire earlier in the year, hopefully this will re-open soon.

Love everything about it, quality fitments and everything had been thought about. Turned up and the house was lovely and warm and welcoming. Got to be careful reversing the car down the drive, as a bit of wall is at an angle and you can easily catch on it. Very central location for all places Cotswold.

An excellent location to visit all the beautiful places in The Cotswolds and surrounding areas. However, we do feel that the issue regarding the neighbour's access to the back of the cottage to put their bins out on a Sunday needs to be clarified. The next-door neighbour used the drive to access his property at least twice a day and this is apart from putting rubbish in the bins on a regular basis, which is disconcerting especially when you are in the Kitchen/dining room, and they walk past the window. If they have right of access it needs to be show on the web site.

John “The property was exactly as described and the photographs very accurate in addition it was very comprehensively equipped.”
We experienced no problems whatsoever during our stay and previous visitors who did experience difficulties must have been extremely unlucky. The neighbours put their bin out on the pavement whilst we were out for the day and did the same when taking it in. We were quite lucky with the weather and managed to enjoy the secluded garden on a couple of late afternoons. The only thing that we would mention is that the drive is a very tight fit if you have a large vehicle and probably best park on the road if this is the case. Not a complaint more something for visitors to be aware of.

Esther “4 Lower Folly is located in a lovely part of the Cotswolds, in a small rural village, it is fairly well equipped and most folk would find it a great base for visiting the many places of interest and beauty spots that make the Cotswolds a desirable holiday area.”
For us though the cottage was not as private as we had expected and led to believe from the holiday description. it is an end of terrace cottage with a right of way along the rear of the property and onto the drive to allow the next door neighbours to bring their reuse bins etc. to the road side, however, during our stay it was used on several other occasions. Also, the windows to the rear of the cottage overlook the neighbours garden and not the garden to the cottage, this also is not mentioned in the holiday description. We understand the description is to be amended to address these issues but just be aware and hopefully will not detract from an otherwise restful holiday.

Behind this is a sharp drop with a stream. Please be aware of this as a potential hazard for children. It was warm, clean, comfortable and well equipped. The welcome pack of goodies was much appreciated, as was the supplies of various soaps, household cleaners and basic foodstuffs. A minor nitpick was the late check-in time (6:00pm), which made travel more difficult (crowded roads on a Friday afternoon) and leaves no time to contact the local office if any problems are encountered at the property (fortunately there weren’t any).

Kay “The cottage and the facilities were 1st class.”
We found that the neighbours more more intrusive than we were led to believe they would be. Of course the bins need too be put out but did it require 8 trips across the back of the cottage and up and down the drive to achieve this? Also every day of our stay a person in a high visability jacket walked across the back of the cottage and up and down the drive. Cars were parked across the front of the cottage obstructing the super view Over the fields.

Loved the decor, very clean and well equipped. We are super fussy and I can’t think of anything that needs improvement. You’ve thought of everything. This is the first cottage I’ve stayed in where the promotional photos on the website actually and accurately match how the cottage is and what’s in it down to the last detail. Would have no hesitation staying again or recommending it to friends, In fact I already have!
