“We enjoyed our stay very much.”

The place was comfortable and had everything we could need. Sitting outside at night was lovely as the garden was a real gem. The local pub, The Chequers is very good and the food is homemade and tasty. Would definitely recommend a stay. Thank you Lee xx

“A wonderful break at The Bit On The Side.”

The cottage was lovely and in an ideal location for exploring the surrounding area’s . It was well equipped with many additional touches provided, such as the doggie and human welcome treats, all of which made our stay very comfortable and enjoyable. Our visit was during the July heat wave and on arrival we were greeted by the lovely owner, Lee, who provided us with a fan which was much appreciated during our stay. Would definitely like to return in the future.

“This property has been the BEST we have stayed at, Lee the owner couldn’t have done anymore for us.”

Our dog stayed with her for a day, which allowed us to our own thing. Every conceivable thing was thought about to make our stay comfortable, even an eye mask and ear plugs to guarantee a wonderful nights sleep in our lovely bed. A welcome basket was provided (didn’t help my weight

“First impressions were lovely as it looked online.”

As the night drew in and the lights went on a different picture emerged. So many cobwebs everywhere, dusty headboard and dust and cobwebs between wall and bed and shelf above our heads. More emerged dirty cupboards, floor, table the only clean place was the garden. I understand things get missed .. but thats weeks/ months of neglect.

“A lovely, comfortable place in which to stay.”

Convenient for both Stratford Upon Avon and of course the delights of the Cotswolds. Perhaps the best feature of the accommodation was the size of the bed and the comfort of it - possibly the most comfortable bed we've slept in!

“We had a great week at A Bit on the Side.”

We were very comfortable and well-looked after by Lee, the owner. She has a marvellous Doggie Day Care Facility in her home that is a great boost for anyone with reservations about leaving their dog in kennels when away. This gives dog owners the best of both worlds. It is a very valuable feature for anyone wanting to discover this lovely area. The only negative I would add is that the kitchen facilities , though adequate, are quite limited for lots of serious food preparation but eating out comes with plenty of choice in this very picturesque part of the country.

“Would have no hesitation in recommending this property to anyone.”

It is very comfortable with excellent facilities and lots of lovely little extras including a generous welcome pack, dressing gowns, slippers and even ear plugs. And, of course, if you have dogs there is the added bonus of on site doggie day care if you need it. Its a very good location for those visiting Stratford and Warwick and I spent several days strolling the canals. Lee is the perfect host. Always on hand if you need them but equally happy to let you look after yourselves. I look forward to a return visit

“A Bit on the Side was exactly as described & as expected.”

Very comfortable for both ourselves & our dogs. A great bonus that Lee, the owner, is a registered doggy day carer. Our 2 dogs loved the day spent with her & other 4-legged friends! A nice touch was the basket of goodies for humans & dogs plus flowers & bottles of fizz to welcome us. We shall return!

Lee was so friendly and helpful. Beautiful accommodation so well designed and decorated. Lee left us a vase of fresh flowers on the table and a basket with cakes and biscuits. It’s also the small touches that made it memorable for us. So peaceful away from noise. We slept like babies. Definitely will be going back there.

“The Bit on the side was everything we hoped and more!”

Super clean on arrival and had everything we needed for our stay. Our doggies settled in straight away too! Lee was a fantastic host and was on hand immediately when we needed anything but also left you to it otherwise. Amazing location and a perfect field to walk the dog just a stones throw away. Kenilworth Castle is a must see if you go and super dog friendly. We will absolutely be back!

A bit on the Side has a great layout, and plenty of space and amenities. Really cozy along with being very dog friendly. Secure beautiful patio for dogs and adults too with plenty of road private parking Gem of a place to stay.

“I cannot find any faults with this property and would highly recommend and would visit again in the near future.”

We took our 2 dogs who loved the park which is close. Also liked the local pub which is only approximately a 5 min walk away. The terrace on the property is lovely and we sat outside in the sun a few times. Lee was a lovely host and we had a good chat with her. She also left us a few bits which is a nice touch and the dogs loved their treats. Thanks Lee.

“Absolutely brilliant!”

Having such a wonderful day care facility literally next door made the holiday. We were able to leave our 2 golden retrievers for a few hours to visit places where dogs were not allowed. Will be recommending it to all our friends! Plus the accommodation itself was perfect for a couple with a lovely secure and lovely private court yard. We wish we had stayed for longer!

“Lee was really friendly and helpful.”

We loved the layout of The Bit on the Side and the lovely furnishings, comfy beds and hot powerful shower. We particularly liked the outdoor terraced area with the pots, grape vines and seating which were perfect for morning coffee and a cool drink in the evening. The welcome hamper for us and our cocker spaniel were a lovely touch, as was the vase of fresh flowers.

The studio is partitioned but pretty big with a high barn roof giving a feeling of space. Nicely furnished, well kitted with off street parking. It's very quiet up, a side street. A good place from which to explore S.Warks and N. Cotswolds.

“This place was fantastic, so clean and well presented.”

The layout was really good and so dog friendly too. The facilities were good, well equipped as was the bathroom. We found it difficult to understand previous comments over the bathroom and cooking facilities. Lee, the owner, was really friendly and even offered a dog sitting service. We can't praise this place enough and we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if we are ever back in the area.

“We spent a lovely and very comfortable few days here.”

The enclosed courtyard garden was perfect for our puppy Bonnie. The kitchen area is small but we had everything we needed. I had never used an air fryer before but I found it easy to use for all our meals. Lee the owner is friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble for her to make your stay a happy one.

The owner, Lee, was extremely helpful - on hand in the adjoining cottage if needed but definitely not intrusive. Great parking facilities. The cottage itself is very well thought out with everything you’d need for a week away. Very comfortable and cosy and the courtyard garden is lovely for sitting out. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a relaxing break.

“The place was cosy and the owner was lovely.”

But it would have been nice to have a lock on the bathroom door, as it is in the joint corridor between the two properties, as well as a lock on the door next to the kitchen which leads to the bathroom and the owners property. Mainly just for a peace of mind, as someone who was travelling alone, it was a little unnerving not being able to lock the doors.

The thriving village of Ettington lies in beautiful Warwickshire countryside and boasts a lovely village pub serving wonderful home-cooked food as well as a village shop/Post Office, well stocked with local fresh produce. The village is recognised as both a Saxon and Roman settlement; the Fosse Way Roman road is close by, and many buildings date back to the 17th century. Ettington is just 6.5 miles south of the market town Stratford-upon-Avon, which dates back to medieval times, and is the home of William Shakespeare.
