    “This home is stunning.”

    Was a lovely little home to escape to for our weeks holiday. When we arrived there was a cute little note welcoming us, along with chocolates and fizz in the fridge. The owners came to check on us to make sure everything was okay (we had been out exploring for the day and missed them) but the card left was lovely. I will say the bathroom does need a net at the window as you are able to wave to passers by when using the toilet haha. I would also advise that if you are taller than 6ft then you may ...

The owners came to check on us to make sure everything was okay (we had been out exploring for the day and missed them) but the card left was lovely. I will say the bathroom does need a net at the window as you are able to wave to passers by when using the toilet haha. I would also advise that if you are taller than 6ft then you may need a helmet as the ceilings are low and my partner did have to duck to make sure he didn’t continuously hit his head and the stairs are very narrow, and can be difficult to walk down. However fully appreciate that the owners cannot change this - this also wouldn’t prevent us from returning as this home is beautiful. Thank you again for allowing us to stay in your home!

The property

Dove Cottage is a beautiful, traditional Cotswold stone property, located in the picturesque village of Naunton.

The village is very popular, being set away from busy roads and benefitting from a good village pub, golf course and many walks straight from the doorstep.

The well known market town of Stow-on-the-Wold and the beautiful village of Bourton-on-the-Water are both within six miles, with their wide range of pubs, shops and restaurants.

Naunton is also ideally located for exploring the wider Cotswolds region and beyond, including famous places such as Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford and Blenheim Palace. This lovely cottage has many character features, including oak beams, a stone fireplace with a wood burning stove, and solid wooden doors.

As you can see from the photos, this property has many character features, including several steps leading up to the front door, narrow and steep stairs, some very low beams, and sloping ceilings, which could pose difficulty to guests with limited mobility or carrying babies.

The traditional character is complemented by modern facilities, including a Smart TV, fast wireless internet access and a well presented kitchen. Dove Cottage sleeps a maximum of four people plus one infant in a cot, in two bedrooms, with one bathroom.

The open plan downstairs contains the following rooms: Living room: Full of character, this room contains exposed beams and a stone fireplace with a wood burning stove.

There is a two seater sofa, two armchairs, and a Smart TV with a Blu-ray/DVD/CD player; Kitchen/dining room: Accessed directly from the living room, this well presented room contains a double electric oven, four ring ceramic hob, dishwasher, fridge, small freezer, microwave, toaster and kettle.

There is also a stylish glass dining table, which comfortably seats four. Stairs lead up from the living room to the small first floor landing, off which are the following rooms: Bedroom 1: A lovely room with attractive rural views, which contains a double bed; Family bathroom: Contains a bath with handheld shower attachment, heated towel rail, wash basin and toilet.

There is also a washing machine in the bathroom; A door on the first floor landing leads to a second, steep stairway to the second floor bedroom: Bedroom 2: A lovely eaves room, with a twin beds (These can be made into a king on request) Directly outside the front of the cottage is a lovely, peaceful patio area, which contains a table, four chairs and a charcoal barbecue.

There is also a small garden, together with a gravelled parking area, with space for one average sized car, more parking roadside.

About the location

NAUNTON

Bourton-on-the-Water 4 miles; Stow-on-the-Wold 5 miles.

Naunton is positioned on either sides of the River Windrush, making it very picturesque as any of its neighbours in the hills between Stow and Cheltenham. Mentioned in the Doomsday Book as Niwetone. The hill overlooking the town is great for climbing up and viewing the church and the village. The Black Horse Inn is the local pub which provides great views into the heart of the Cotswolds.

Note: The electricity meter is being replaced on Wednesday afternoon 6th
November and the log-burner is being serviced on Thursday afternoon 7th
November. The owner will be present at both times and neither is expected
to affect the guests significantly.


Note: There is no boundary fence to the garden and Naunton village has a strict policy that dogs must be kept on leads everywhere when out walking, including on the village recreation field and footpaths.

Note: For the comfort of future guests, we ask that dogs remain downstairs, stay off the furniture and that no trace of a dog remains after your departure and we also ask that dogs are never left alone in the property.

Note: For the sake of our neighbours, we ask you please to avoid loud music late in the evenings.

Note: This property has many character features, including several steps leading up to the front door, narrow and steep stairs, some very low beams, and sloping ceilings, which could pose difficulty to guests with limited mobility or carrying babies, both in terms of their general movement and their ability to quickly exit the house in the event of an emergency.

Note: The smoke and CO detectors operate on a sound only basis and, therefore, those who have a serious impairment of hearing may not be able to hear the alarm systems and could be at risk.

Note: No candles or nightlights are permitted inside the cottage.

Note: The second-floor beds are zip/link and are set up as either twin beds or a king bed, at the housekeeper’s discretion. If you have a particular preference, do please give us at least 72 hours’ notice of your request.
