St Briavels stands almost 800 feet above sea level overlooking the Wye Valley and is only a 10 minute drive from The Forest of Dean. The village has an ancient moated Royal castle, a communal green, a playground, an art gallery and monthly farmers' market. It's history dates back to the 11th Century and beyond - the Hudnall woods, one of King John's favourite hunting grounds, are one of the few remaining unmanaged woods in the Country. Other nearby attractions include Puzzlewood, Clearwell's ancient caves, Symonds Yat with its outstanding views across the Wye Valley and riverside walks and many castles to explore. St Briavels is situated on the English side of the English/Welsh border providing easy access to the historic castles in Monmouthshire, and the foody delights of Abergavenny and the unspoiled and untamed natural beauty of the Breacon Beacons. On the English side of the border the beautiful market towns of Ross-on-Wye, and the cities of Hereford and Gloucester are within an hours drive or less.
