“It was a treat to stay at Combe Cottage; It's characterful with a real feeling of history, complemented by beautiful décor and proper solid furniture, but it has plenty of modern comforts.”
The small kitchen is well equipped with an efficient induction hob. The multi-fuel burner gave added warmth and cosiness to the living room. The house is close to the A419, but we could only hear traffic from the kitchen and the eaves bedroom, and it wasn’t a big issue. The house is close to the A419, but we could only hear traffic from the kitchen and the eaves bedroom, and it wasn’t a big issue. Its location, in fact, is a boon: from the bottom of the road are regular buses into Stroud – a short journey and contactless payment – and Cirencester. We walked the couple of miles into Stroud along the canal - scenic, historic, and with kingfishers! - and caught the bus back. We appreciated being able to walk to local amenities on pavement, i.e. no leaping into hedges to avoid being mown down by cars. The Ship Inn, a lovely pub with excellent food, is just a few minutes’ walk, and just half a mile away is the very popular Stroud Brewery taproom, offering a wide choice of delicious ales, and lots of food options. Just to nitpick, I didn’t like the plastic lawn; they’re not good for the environment. But aside from this quibble, we would be very happy to stay here again.
Thank you for your very kind review
I agree about the small artificial lawn but as I do not live nearby I had it laid as I could find nobody interested in cutting very small lawn on a regular basis .
